Hectic days..

One of "signature photos" of UMass Amherst - Old Chapel and W.E.B. de Bois library.
Those who followed my blog 2 years ago may recognize this street. Here I see the first autumn colors appearing.
Despite the jet lag that keeps waking me up at 5 a.m. on the morning (and I get up and go to work!), hadn’t got even time to write.  Or, to be more specific, hadn’t got time to think and write about anything else than client cases, contracts, appeals. I have come here for a sabbatical, to get away from everyday stress and duties, but at least for now all I do is trying to finalize all projects that had to be finished by my departure, but they stubbornly keep getting stuck (or old clients appear asking specifically for my help, which in any other circumstances would be great).
Full moon in the sky, blame it! When I run to get my UCard, forgot at home the small presents I have brought for my friends at the faculty. When I came back to the university later, to choose some books from the library, I found it thorn apart from inside; some kind of redecorating or moving of stacks is going on, but instead of browsing through the selves, one can just request the book to be delivered from the stacks, which means I will get the book I asked for only tomorrow.

There are lots of books one can read online thought the library access, and I have to explore these options (by that I mean - which books are available for reading only on campus, in the library WiFi, and which I may read from everywhere). But to continue whining and venting, I may add that I really miss holding a paper book in my hands and browsing through it.

So all the gods are directing me back to my dining table, where I have already expanded a branch of our legal office. While my office table is still in the box, waiting to be assembled, I have got a decent monitor where two pages can be seen side by side (still miss having 2 monitors, the other for dictionary and relevant law, but this is already an upgrade), and I have tons of work. And a dream that a day will come when I start a morning not hysterically trying to finish the tasks by their deadline (real or imagined by the client), and may start enjoying the research process.
Meanwhile the summer continues in Amherst. Almost like a reparation for my hectic days the weather is fantastic. Although the forecasts predicted rainy day, it is warm (my favorite +24), sun is shining among the clouds, and only the stress about all and everything bars me from enjoying the perfect day.
I write this siting on the bus 30 from UMass to Belchertown, and by the time the bus reaches my stop, I will be calm. Thanks for listening/ reading. In the days to come I hope to stick to my plan and write more about neighborhood, my observations, about life in Massachusetts and how it differs from life in Latvia. Describing those tiny details which makes travel and getting to know other cultures so interesting.
